ABOUT ROBERT SCHWARTZMAN ROBERT SCHWARTZMAN is a filmmaker and musician. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Schwartzman began a career in music as an Interscope/Geffen recording artist where he wrote and produced top charting songs and spent two decades performing to a global audience under the name Rooney. Schwartzman grew up in a family of filmmakers and studied many aspects of filmmaking, from development, financing, and marketing, to editing, cinematography, and directing. In 2016, his first feature film, DREAMLAND, made its world debut in competition at the Tribeca Film Festival and is now available on Netflix. DREAMLAND is a coming of age story about a musician tangled in a love affair, which starred PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER actor Johnny Simmons, TRANSPARENT’s Amy Landecker, SMILF creator/actress Frankie Shaw, and comedy icon Beverly D’Angelo.
His follow up feature film, THE UNICORN, debuted in competition at the SXSW Film Festival 2018 and is due out in theaters February 1st and on demand February 5 th by The Orchard and Hulu.
