Live Music is Alive and Well; Concerts In Your Car Series Continues

Since last June, when CBF Productions launched the first drive-in live music experience in California at the Ventura Fairgrounds, there has been a rebirth of live music events on the south coast. A litany of diverse acts have taken the stage at the venue including, Snoop Dogg, Cypress Hill, Fitz and The Tantrums, Los Lobos, Tower of Power, and Sublime to name a few.

But the COVID safe venue shows no sign of slowing down productions into the fall. CBF continues to book more popular acts all the time, including some top names that were initially scheduled to play the ill-fated Santa Barbara Bowl 2020 season. This Friday, October 9, one of Santa Barbara’s favorite bands, Slightly Stoopid, will be bringing their Reggae drenched upbeat tunes to the Fairgrounds. The band, founded in Ocean Beach back in 1994, has released 13 studio albums packed with their unique amalgamation of pop music. Their sound has been influenced by many musical genres, including folk, rock, blues, hip-hop, funk, metal, punk, and Reggae.

According to CBF Productions, more exciting acts from different musical genres scheduled to play this month include, Platinum-selling recording artist Chris Janson who will preside over the stage on Saturday, October 10.  “The award-winning, multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter breakout country star Janson is perhaps best known for his double-platinum smash hit “Buy Me A Boat” and “Good Vibes,” his third No.1 country radio hit  from his new album Real Friends.”

In what seems like the perfect venue across from Surfers Point, the following week, the legendary Beach Boys bring their hit songs to the venue on Friday, October 23. “ As The Beach Boys mark more than a half-century of making music, the group continues to ride the crest of a wave unequaled in America’s musical history.  The Beach Boys have become synonymous with the California lifestyle and have become an American icon to fans worldwide.  The Beach Boys have sold over 100 million records worldwide and have received more than 33 RIAA Platinum and Gold record awards.” The next evening, Saturday, October 24, original members of the classic New Wave hit-making band, Oingo Boingo, will bring their traditional Halloween show to the fairgrounds. The band will rock the night with high energy classics like including “Dead Man’s Party,” “Weird Science,” “Just Another Day,” and many more. Acoustic rockers Aaron Lewis and Sully Erna will take over the venue on Halloween night, no doubt including hits from their respective rock groups Stained and Godsmack.

Concerts In Your Car also includes a regular calendar of hit movies. The venue has taken maximum precautions to be COVID safe, and with one price for a carload, it has become a family-friendly event for concerts and movies. For something completely different, television personality Bob Eubanks who produced the first two Beatles tours in the U.S., will host a Q and A and rare video clips in what he has titled a night “Backstage With The Beatles.” On Saturday, October 17, the event will also feature the Beatles tribute band Ticket To Ride and should be a fun family event. According to CBF Productions, “The first act announced for November is the celebrated band 311, performing on Saturday, November 14. Founded in Omaha, Nebraska, they have been inspiring their fans for three decades with their signature blend of rock, Reggae, hip hop, and funk.  More performances will be added throughout the month – visit www.concertsinyourcar.com for regular updates.”
