After a successful European tour with shows in Italy, France and the Netherlands, and a special 30th Anniversary Show in Brooklyn’s Elsewhere featuring his longtime psychedelic jazz-rock group GODS AND MONSTERS.
GARY LUCAS was honored to close out 2021 with a private solo acoustic concert for invited guests at London’s sumptuous Winfield House in Regent’s Park by invitation of Acting US Ambassador Philip Reeker on Wed. Dec. 15th.
Guests at Gary’s concert included authors Michel Faber (“Beneath the Skin”) and Louisa Young (“My Dear, I Wanted to Tell You”) ; rock legend Danny Fields (Iggy Pop, Ramones) and his assistant Kyle Russo; Gypsy Kings manager Pascal Imbert; Woodentops leader Rolo McGinty and his wife Kyoko; Wyndham Lewis Society members Jo Cottrell, Alan Munton and David Stoker; former head of EMI Records Angus Margerison and his son; music writers Sean Kitching and Emil Mohr; English expat impresario Karel Beer; Gary’s assistant Ian Jackman; friends and family members Kimball Stewart; Kate Myers, Gina Sanders and Alan Rowden; and many others.
Gary has been a friend of Ambassador Reeker since performing a similar private concert several years ago in Italy for him when Ambassador Reeker was the US Counsel General in Milan. Invited guests included Italian media and fashion folks as well as the editor of Italian “Rolling Stone” Magazine. At the end of the evening Lucas was presented with the Consul General’s Award for Cultural Diplomacy.
A world-traveling performing and recording artist, Lucas has released over 35 albums to date in a variety of genres and performed in over 40 countries, including the UK, India, China, Japan, Russia, Serbia, Australia, Africa, Cuba, South Korea, Israel, Brazil, Colombia, Finland, Scandinavia, Canada, the US, and all across Eastern and Western Europe.
