There is certainly a lot of buzz generating around 24-yr old singer/songwriter Jillette Johnson who is gearing up to release her Wind-Up Records debut album “Water in a Whale”. The new album was released on June 25th and features the song “Cameron” which is getting a ton of hype for it’s story line which explores the struggle of being transgender and gives an inspiring voice about remaining true to one’s authentic self.
The video for “Cameron” will premiere on VEVO July 1st and Jillette is also confirmed for a VEVO channel take over. As a teen, Johnson left her small town to move to NYC’s vibrantly creative LES neighborhood. In the years that followed, Johnson auditioned for and ultimately turned down a slot on The Voice to focus on songwriting then sign with Wind-up Records. Jillette Johnson just played Bonnaroo and recently played Firefly Festival on June 23rd. She will also be touring throughout the United States for the rest of the year, making a stop to play Joe’s Pub in NYC on July 16th.
